John Overpeck
Founder & Owner
John Overpeck, the driving force behind Multi-Tek, embarked on what would turn out to be a lifelong career in the logging industry at just 12 years old in the lush forests of Newport, Oregon, worlds apart from the realm of custom cable assembly. A hands-on learner at heart, John has always been mechanically and electrically inclined, constantly on the lookout and tinkering for better ways to get things done. Spending countless hours navigating tough, varied terrains, and mastering the art of heavy equipment, John earned a solid reputation in the logging industry for his tireless work ethic, determination and unwavering commitment to excellence. Logging presented intense physical demands and constant danger, but the lack of employee gratitude and concern from his boss proved at times to be even more challenging. John made a personal vow to prioritize appreciation and kindness in his leadership approach should he ever hold such a position of authority.
Amidst a downturn in the logging trade, an opportunity arose to help assemble cable harnesses in the early 90’s. During this short stint, the company hurried to fulfill an ever changing order for a major supplier. John, true to his “make things happen” mantra, ingeniously found continued solutions. Always ready to take action, he efficiently delivered what the customer needed when all hope seemed lost. Successfully crafting and delivering the cable on time, what was initially a short-term project led to the inception of Multi-Tek. Motivated by his entrepreneurial spirit, in 1995, John humbly established MTI in his parents’ garage, hiring and training 5 fellow loggers to manufacture the cables. A true maverick, John’s innovative talents have fueled his success in the business domain, marked by sacrifice and sheer hard work. Over the last three decades, MTI has flourished into the thriving enterprise it is today, distinguishing itself from competitors and within the industry, due in part to John’s steadfast emphasis on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Although John has always continued logging, often working on weekends outside of MTI, he founded his own logging company in 2000. True to his nature and always seeking fresh challenges, he expanded beyond logging by establishing a Wildland Fire Fighting Company in 2015. Throughout his various endeavors, John’s authentic concern for his team and steadfast commitment to their development have remained the cornerstone of his leadership, inspiring others to chase their dreams with the same passion, fervor and grit that has shaped his own journey.
Away from the hustle and bustle of work, John finds joy in the simple pleasures of hunting, fishing, hitting the road (or dirt) on his motorcycle, and enjoying the thrill of horseback rides. But it’s when he’s surrounded by heavy machinery, working on logging and excavation projects, that he truly feels most at home, pouring his heart and soul into what he loves most.
